National Tree Day
Sunday 28 July 2024 is National Tree Day!
What will you be planting to celebrate?
At our community organisation, we’re all a bit obsessed with trees. And we’re grateful that our workplace has so many glorious specimens, from majestic Tuarts (Eucalyptus gomphocephala) to shady teatrees (Melaleuca lanceolata). This is thanks to many generations of the Apace community, who re-planted the site after the decades of clearing that had occurred after British colonisation.
We want this experience of land stewardship and revegetation of country to be a story shared by more Perth residents.
By planting a native tree seedling with your friends or neighbours, you’d be joining us in advancing environmental sustainability and amplifying social cohesion.
You’ll help provide habitat for local animals, oxygenate and filter pollutants from the air, combat urban heat islands and protect the biodiversity of your local area! And of course, trees are stunning in and of themselves!
We have a little forest of tree seedlings available in our retail nursery. They’re all local species that have adapted for thousands of years to thrive in the climate and ancient soils of Whadjuk Noongar boodjar. Come and have a browse, and we can help you choose the perfect tree for the patch of earth you’re caring for.
