Description

Haemodorum simplex is a small bulbaceous perennial herb. The plant with the flowering stem is up to 0.2 to 0.6 metres high. Black flowers in spring. Haemodorums are related to the Kangaroo paws though their black flowers are not as spectacular. Haemodorums are bush tucker plants and their blood red bulb is equivalent to chilli in spice. These are shade-tolerant, butterfly attracting plants.
